This product is perfect for my needs as I needed an alarm clock/radio/cd player for my bedside table. The good:The compact size is fantastic. The price for what you get is awesome.Large buttons - easy to hit snooze button and CD buttonThe alarm is programmable and can be set to only go off on weekdays. The CD player has various repeat modes so I can have it repeat once or repeat all night. The iphone/ipod dock is icing on the cake. This is not a stereo system - it is a clock/radio/cd player so do not expect Bose sound quality. The bad:The CD player is very noisy as it spins - distractingly so, if the sound is not turned up very high. I love the slide-out dock. The sound is very good for a clock/radio/cd player. The sound is adequate for my needs. The sound is not great but about on par with other clock radios in this price range. Otherwise I would have rated it 5 stars
The main reason I chose this device is to set a different volume for wake up than used for sleep music. The device performs this flawlessly. The controls are very easy to get even without reading the manual if you have some knowledge of how alarms function. The LED light, as mentioned in other reviews, was slightly bright but not to the extent that others have stated.Overall, I really like this radio.
I got this product for my girlfriend for Christmas. The speaker is behind the clock, so if you can see the clock, than the speaker is facing a wall, away from you, so the sound doesn't reach you as well. She was in desperate need of a CD player, and her parents had mentioned getting her an iPod, so I thought this would be perfect. If you want a CD/iPod player that you can hear fine from your bedside table while your actually in bed, or to provide some subtle ambient music, than I suppose this would be an ok product, but I was hoping for something with a little more power, which this system failed to present. The thing I found most astounding was that there's no audio jack on this product, so no way to hook up external speakers, or even listen to in in bed without disturbing people, (this would be of course, only for CDs, because otherwise you could just use your iPod) but my girlfriend didn't have an iPod yet, and she didn't own a walkman, so the only way to listen to her CDs on headphones was to listen to them through a CD player. This product was a lot less impressive than it looked on the page, so I'd look around a bit more before you click the Add to Cart button.
Now, if only they had listed that in the product description. I contacted Sony technical support, and they confirmed that it is not compatible with the iPhone 3GS.
it doesn't work with the latest iPhone 3GS model. I bought it and was very excited about the product.
I think this product is great in every way, except one. It would just play it through the iPhone's internal speaker instead.
But every time I put my iPhone in the dock, it would tell me that it wasn't compatible, and would ask if I'd like to turn on "Airplane Mode". If I clicked 'no', and tried to play it, it wouldn't be able to play through the speaker in the clock radio.
Too bad. It says it works with an iPhone (and that it is even iPhone 3G certified), but apparently not for the latest model - you'd think that would be pertinent information.
The sound seems really good - I do have to agree that the face is bright even on the low setting - we just turn the clock away from their beds at night. I bought one of these for each of my daughters for on their nightstand. The fact that their iPods are always charged is another bonus. They are enjoying it so much. Their favorite part is the remote control and the sleep function. And we were able to get rid of the bulky CD players. I have an iPhone and am probably going to buy one for myself.
